Get Comfortable with Discomfort
by Andrea Waltz

We had just completed a one hour workout with our personal trainer, Scott, when (through gasping breaths) I said to him, “I can’t wait until this gets easier!”  Meaning; the better shape I’m in, the less the workout will be difficult and uncomfortable – less painful. Scott’s answer was not what I expected! He said, “Don’t worry, it will never get easier.”

I was immediately dismayed at this answer. I was working out to get better – to stop struggling! Right?! Scott then said, “Andrea as soon as I see that you’re progressing, we’re going to up your weights or you’ll do more reps. I want you working out this hard every time.”

My annoyance fading, I realized how brilliant it was. Building muscle, building stamina in cardio is not about getting to some magic plateau to then cruise in comfort. It’s about pushing. Sweating. Always working until you can’t give more… failing. It’s the only way to GROW.

I realized it’s how it is in business too. You’ve got to push. We’re trying new things and failing with some, succeeding at others. We’re learning this: get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Connecting with People in your Local Area on Facebook.

A Facebook tip for local networking ....

facebook logoA Facebook tip for local networking ….

Facebook remains “IT in my thinking for social networking.  I do realize there are new ones popping up all over the place offering to pay you to join and refer others.  Facebook is just home to me.

Would it be OK if you could find people who live in your same city or area on this wonderful place called Facebook?

We have experimented and found a simple way for now.

Things on Facebook are always subject to change, however, but as of this date it’s working this way. J

This is how I do it effectively:

  1. Go onto your own INFO page.
  2. Scroll down to the Contact Information.
  3. Click on Edit.  (upper right corner of this section)
  4. Now put your current City or the city you desire to connect with others in this section.
  5. Save settings.
  6. Return to your INFO page.
  7. Now this city name is a clickable link.  When you click on it,  you will be sent to a page with:

-Friends you have in this City.

-People you are not yet connected with, but have common friends with.

-People with no common friends.

Now have fun meeting people in your local area (or in any city)  that you do know or don’t know so well!

I change it often, then change it back to my current city so that people can find me too.

Any thoughts or questions,  I’m happy to help.

All the best,

Tom Big Al Schreiter’s Simple 1-2-3 MLM Success Formula

Tom “Big Al” Schreiter says something quite brilliant about the simplicity of building a network marketing organization. The skills one needs fall into 3 distinct and equally important categories.

We, as network marketers, were not born knowing how to do this business 123successfully.  We must learn.  After all, we learned to ride a bike, drive a car, be a parent, and be successful at our current professions through education and practice.

Tom “Big Al” Schreiter says something quite brilliant about the simplicity of building a network marketing organization.  The skills one needs fall into 3 distinct and equally important categories.

  1. Learn how to talk to people.
  2. Learn how to find people to talk to.
  3. Take the Volunteers.

Tom lists #1 as number one on purpose.  Without that in place, we will not know what to do even if we have success in #2 (lead generation), and thus there will be NO #3 (volunteers).

This is the first of 4 articles.  So, the resources that have made and continue to make a difference for my success and that of other network marketers will be shared with hopes that people will also contribute to the list of growing resources for all that read these articles.

To your 1-2-3 MLM success,

Jennifer

Want MLM Leads? Learn to Target the Market

It is a common theme in some network marketing training systems, that we must have tons of people to talk to in order to grow our business.  Not just lots, but “tons”! :)

We have found that if you have 1 or 2 of the right people to talk to, that’s all you need.

Why call 100 people to find just 1 person when you can have the right person call you?

Target the market: Why not just talk to people who want to talk to you?

Many people who start in Network Marketing get frustrated (some quit)  say “Oh it’s too slow!”.  But it is too slow when you sponsor a leader who never quits, who will be in business with you the rest of your life, in your children’s lives?

This is called network marketing, the relationship business.  It’s not about  sponsoring 100 people.  It is about 100 people sponsoring 3 or 4.

That is proving to be a reality for many of us as we help one person find 3 or 4.  Target marketing for MLM leads at it’s best.  That’s because we have learned how to build relationships that last a lifetime through education and teamwork.

Word of Mouth Advertising RULES even Today!

Ralph Santana, vice-president of marketing for PepsiCo North America, said: "We're living in a new age with consumers. They are looking for more of a two-way dialogue, story-telling and word of mouth..."

pepsiRecently, I was on the Forum of Tom Schreiter’s FortuneNow.com Community.  I came across this post and it hit home once again the value of one-to-one relationships (2-way dialogue as described below).

Some network marketers have come to the internet and been misinformed about how the internet can be used to build a successful network marketing organization.  I’ve come across landing pages that proclaim that there is no selling or even talking to people.  They do it all for you, just give them your credit card number.

People who fall for that lie are in for a not-surprising series of failed attempts.

And as in the information below, even PEPSI realizes that the human-touch, word-of-mouth (based on relationships with know-like and trust).

“Good morning, I thought everyone would find this comment by Pepsi quite interesting. For the first time in 23 years Pepsi will NOT advertise during the Super Bowl.

Ralph Santana, vice-president of marketing for PepsiCo North America, said: “We’re living in a new age with consumers. They are looking for more of a two-way dialogue, story-telling and word of mouth…”

While Pepsi may not be jumping into full fledged network marketing, it underscores how powerful it is when one satisfied customer refers a product or service to another.

Word of mouth has ruled for thousands of years!

Who do we compare ourselves to?

Today, I would like to highlight some thought I received from Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz of Goforno.wom.

Tom Schreiter gifted his ForuneNow.com members a copy of their book and teh video they have created.  The book is a powerful parable.  The video is a collection of interviews of successful people telling their own stories of failing their way to success, and how the “no” became how they got to their destination … ultimately “Yes”.

I highly recomment and  Go For No to any serious entrepreneur who wants a new mindset regarding the word no.

Who Are You Comparing Yourself To?

by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz

go for no” One of the most destructive activities a person can engage in is to waste time comparing themselves to others, in particular to what others have. Consider this story…

Bob and Frank go car shopping; Bob buys a Mercedes limousine, Frank goes with a Cadillac limousine. A few days later they pull up to an intersection, side by side….

“Nice car,” Bob says to Frank, “but is it loaded?”

“Yeah, it’s loaded!” Frank boasts in return.

“Got a phone?” Bob asks.

“Yep!” responds Frank.

“Got a TV?” Bob inquires.

“Yep, got a TV, too!” Frank beams.

“That’s nice. Got a bed?” Bob asks with a smile.

“You’ve got a bed in there?!” Frank asks in disbelief.

Bob says, “Oh, yeah. It’s great!” Then drives off.

Livid, Frank drives straight to the dealership and demands they put a bed in. A week later Frank sees Bob’s limo parked by the side of the road, hazard lights flashing. He pulls up behind him, parks, and walks to the side of Bob’s limo and knocks on the window. But there is no answer. So he knocks again, louder this time.

Finally, Bob appears, rolls the window down and shouts, “What? What do you want?!” Frank says, “I just want to tell you that now I’ve got a bed in my limo, too!” Bob then replies, “You pulled me out of the shower to tell me that?”

Whatever you’ve got, it will NEVER be enough if you spend your time worrying about what others have.”

Are you smiling a little after that story?  Hope so.

To your success,

Jennifer Wideman

Careting your own Journal (Jim Rohn’s Wisdom)

The beauty of self development and change is that successful people are all saying pretty much the same things. They just tell it in a different story or format. That is the gift of many counselors, because if we cannot receive it fully from one, then we can from another.

Recently, I have requested the opportunity to ask for interviews with some of the most successful people within my Mentoring for Free community, as well as my own network marketing organization.

One of my business associates was on a call with me during one of the interviews.  After we hung up, she said “Jennifer, you are always typing when you are on the phone.  What’s up with that?

Well, for reasons that serve me best in my situation, I take notes by typing what people say as I am talking with them.  If I don’t, I’ll forget what they said and how it has impacted me.

Writing things down (or typing like the wind as they talk) is a way to hold it dear long after the conversation is over.  That’s just common sense, right?

I draw upon the wisdom of others every day.  I heard Bob Burg say  in one of his recorded trainings that he has never had an original thought.  All he knows he has learned from the many teachers and mentors in his life, starting with his own parents.

The beauty of self development and change is that successful people are all saying pretty much the same things.  They just tell it in a different story or format.  That is the gift of many counselors, because if we cannot receive it fully from one, then we can from another.

Watching this Jim Rohn video (watch here) a friend shared with me hit this point home again.  He talks about his vast library and about a few of the books that have impacted his life most.  He made a habit of keeping a journal too.  Wouldn’t you love to have access to his countless journals?

People sometimes say to me, “Jennifer, I’m not like you … I don’t know what to say.”

Well, as I heard Les Brown share what his mentor, Mike Williams, said to him … “We are all born dumb, naked and speechless, we can learn.”  We just keep learning.  We learned to ride a bike.  We learned to be parents.  We learned our current profession.  We learned how to be a friend.  We continue to learn to be phenomenal mentors and sponsors in network marketing.

As Jim so eloquently is known to say “If you can change, then everything can change in your life.”

Share what books or sayings has most impacted you in the past or recently.

Leaders get paid more in network marketing

"Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of people in the world. One type is known as LEADERS, and the other as FOLLOWERS. Decide at the outset whether you intend to become a leader in your chosen calling, or remain a follower. The difference in compensation is vast." -Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

Hello Fellow Leaders in Network Marketing,

I recently heard a short video done by Tom Big Al Schreiter concerning a network marketing company that has created a 100-year plan. In other words, the ethical and profitable foundations this company has set forth cannot be strayed from for 100 years.

The question to Tom was “How can a 100-year plan in a network marketing company be possible?”

His response: “You have got to have strong leaders.”

The host asked, “How do you build strong leaders?”

Tom’s response: “That’s a long discussion for another time.”

I am reading chapter 7 of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill today in preparation for our Wednesday’s mastermind call. Topic  being “Organized Planning,, the 6th step toward riches”.

Much of this chapter is actually spent on the discussion of leadership, i.e. the qualities a good leader should have, and should not have. I have read this many times before, but today it hit me again the importance of leadership.

Network marketing was not around in 1937, but every successful network marketer understands soon in their career the importance of good leadership and profit and long-term residual. Leaders who build leaders grow teams. Leaders who grow teams, own their life.

Final thought from Chapter 7:

leader“Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of people in the world. One type is known as LEADERS, and the other as FOLLOWERS. Decide at the outset whether you intend to become a leader in your chosen calling, or remain a follower. The difference in compensation is vast.” -Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich
